Male dies after been hit by car in Carlton.

A BIRTHDAY trip to Melbourne to watch the footy has turned to tragedy with a young father dead and his partner in a coma after being hit by a car.
The interstate couple, who are parents of children aged three and five, were crossing Queensberry St, near Lygon St, Carlton, when they were struck.
Specialist accident investigators are looking into whether the driver of the Holden Astra ran a red light moments before it hit them.
Sgt Brendan Butland, of the major collision investigation unit, said it was believed the couple were crossing with a walk signal on Saturday night.
